Plagiarism Policy & Originality Standards

The EPH International Journal of Medical and Health Science (IJMHS) upholds the highest standards of academic honesty. We maintain a zero-tolerance policy toward plagiarism in all its forms to protect the validity of the medical and health sciences literature we publish.

1. Defining Academic Misconduct

Plagiarism occurs when an author represents the work, ideas, or language of others as their own. This policy encompasses:

  • • Verbatim & Structural Duplication: Direct copying of text or research structures without appropriate quotation or attribution.
  • • Improper Paraphrasing: Re-stating external ideas or findings without providing a clear citation of the original source.
  • • Self-Plagiarism: Re-submitting one’s own previously published findings or text without formal disclosure and justification.

2. Editorial Screening & Procedure

To ensure research authenticity, every submission undergoes rigorous evaluation through industry-leading detection tools, including iThenticate and Turnitin.

Our Evaluation Framework:

  • Contextual Review: Editors assess similarity reports based on substance rather than raw percentages, distinguishing between technical terminology and actual plagiarism.
  • Revision Opportunities: In cases of minor or moderate overlap (such as in methodology), authors are typically guided to improve citations and revise text.
  • Ethical Investigation: Serious breaches are handled strictly according to COPE Flowcharts to ensure fair and transparent resolution.

3. Author Obligations

Authors serve as the final guardians of their manuscript's integrity. This includes verifying that all co-authored sections are original and that every data point is accurately credited.

If AI tools are utilized during the drafting process, authors remain fully accountable for the accuracy and originality of the generated content.

4. Global Transparency

IJMHS aligns its policies with international best practices to support sustainable scholarly communication.

Further resources on these standards can be found through COPE, the DOAJ principles of transparency, and the Crossref Similarity Check guidelines.

Plagiarism Statement Summary

By submitting to IJMHS, authors certify that their work is original and that all sources have been properly acknowledged. The journal reserves the right to reject any manuscript—or retract any published article—found to be in significant violation of these ethical standards.
